People’s Choice is Awarded to “Drift Away with Us”
For the month of January visitors and members of the RAL Art Center, 19 N Main Street, Kilmarnock have voted for their favorite pieces of art in the “You Be the Judge” exhibit. Artwork in oils, pastels, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media competed against each other. Ironwork and fused glass competed with paintings. Abstract competed with realistic, color with color, and the visitors voted.
Competition ended Saturday, January 23 with a decided winner, “Drift Away with Us,” an oil painting by Sarah Marshall Elliott. Sarah is not a stranger to the winner’s circle, also winning a first place and the People’s Choice Award in the 2020 RAL Labor Day Art Show. She is a new exhibiting artist with the RAL Art Center and is the creator of the Art Center’s new monthly online ARTLINE.
Second place votes went to Don Presnell for his acrylic on board, “Stars and Starfish.”
Third place was awarded to Mel Neale for her pastel, “Portrait of a Girl.”
This exhibit runs until Saturday, January 30. The RAL Art Center is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.
