RAL Art Center Welcomes Two New Artists

Malia Joy is a ceramic artist who has pursued her love for clay through the challenges of a busy career, living at various times in Baltimore, Chicago, and on a sailboat. Now retired in the Northern Neck, Malia practices her art in the Ceramics Studio at the Bay School in Matthews. Her pottery leans towards items of practical use such as bowls, mugs, and vases, each piece colorfully glazed with playful designs, often with a signature design surprise on the bottom of the piece.

Linda Dessaint is an award-winning artist who creates paintings from nature and life. A New England transplant to Virginia, Linda works out of her studio as well as outside in the natural landscape, painting “en plein air”. She works in pastel and oil, with the goal of capturing the shifting light and energy of a moment in time for all to experience. In addition to landscapes, Linda enjoys creating abstracts, still life, and pet portraits, as well as commissioned work.
