MOCK WINS VIEWER’S CHOICE AWARD



On Saturday, September 24, the votes were counted and Doug Mock, Executive Director of the RAL Art Center, was declared the winner.


For the last three weeks visitors to the RAL Art Center voted for their favorite piece of art work in this year’s 132 piece Labor Day Art Show. Out of 331 votes Mock’s watercolor of “O” is for Owen received the highest number of votes by a considerable margin.


Doug Mock is an award-winning watercolor artist and teacher living in White Stone, Virginia. Mock creates art inspired by people and nature. His work is characterized by unique design, bold colors and creative subject matter. Capturing life’s simple moments, Doug’s art connects with the viewer on an emotional level.


He is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society. Doug offers classes and workshops at the University of Richmond and the RAL Art Center, 19 N Main Street, Kilmarnock.


The RAL Art Center’s Labor Day Art Show ends October 1, and will be followed by two new exhibits, Farm to Table and Abandoned: What Remains. These exhibits start on October 4 and run through October 29, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.
