And the Winners Are ..............

RAL Art Center’s July Exhibit is a BIG show with SMALL WORKS

The annual Small Works show will be on display through the month of July at the RAL Art Center, 19 N Main Street, Kilmarnock Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Ribbons were awarded at the First Friday’s reception on July 2 by Sandy Manning. Sandy is a member of the Jury Team for exhibiting artists at the RAL Art Center and is a local art educator. Her background in art includes stained glass, printmaking, photography, watercolors, ceramics, jewelry-making, quilting, and graphic design. Her greatest joy is to be able to provide opportunities for celebrating the creativity and skill of Lancaster County’s youth artists.

First Place for this exhibit was awarded to Dave Hershiser’s oil painting, “Reedville Afternoon.” The judge felt that he demonstrated a mastery level of skill with the paint media in brush strokes and use of color.

Second place was given to “Small/Buttons,” two small books by Barbara Brecher. These hand bound accordion books were made and designed from silk paper, one with antique button accents and the other with digitally designed cards.

“Sunkissed,” an oil by Suzanne Quel, received third place.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to the following:

“Pocket of Possibilities,” mixed media by Ron Taylor

“Soon to Be Slaw,” watercolor by Linda Goldstein

“Stop Over,” photograph by Mary Ellis

“The Rite of Spring I,” digital art by Harold Burnley

“Bermuda Triangle,” oil by Juli Schuszler
