Dates:  Tuesday & Wednesday, May 3 and 4, 2022

Time:  10 AM to 3 PM each day

Cost:  $225 for members, $259 for non-members

Instructor:  Kathleen Noffsinger

Skill level:  All levels are welcome - some knowledge of “Oil and Cold Wax Painting” is helpful but not required.

This “creativity” workshop is a painting and design class for artists who would like to “loosen up” and escape the confines of detailed painting and drawing by working with oil paint mixed with cold wax medium.  The focus of instruction will be “deconstructing” shapes and colors to create expressive impressionist and somewhat “abstracted” paintings.

Suggested Supplies:  I will have some supplies to share.

·  artist tube oil paints in your favorite colors and black and white

·  Masterson oil palette or freezer paper for oil palette

·  wax paper  (cont’d on reverse)

·  Nitrile disposable gloves

·  poppy oil or linseed oil for cleanup

·  wet wipes and paper towels and a bag for trash

·  old watercolor and oil paint brushes, silicone shaper brushes

·  Gamblin cold wax medium

·  “matte” tube acrylics for underpainting (dries quickly)

·  Ampersand Gessobord 12” x 12” (4 or more flat or cradled) 2” blue tape if using cradled panels

·  tools for mark making:

·  trowel type palette knives, Messimeister or other silicone bowl scraper, old credit cards, window squeegee, bubble wrap, textured paper, stencils, white tissue paper, etc.

·  sketchbook and drawing supplies for sketching

·  graphite pencils in sizes 2H, HB and 4B

·  plastic and kneaded erasers

·  pencil sharpener

·  vine charcoal

·  Saral transfer paper in white or graphite (I will have some to share)

·  your own non-copyrighted photos of flowers, seascape, landscape, birds

·  an adventurous attitude!

·  Bring or buy your lunch.  (Refrigerator available on site)

About the Instructor:

Painting and drawing since childhood, Kathleen Noffsinger has taught painting and drawing classes since 1998, including “Travel and Paint” workshops in Bermuda and the Florida Keys.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she majored in elementary education and chose all her electives in art and design.  A popular instructor, she has taught workshops for art leagues in Virginia, Maryland and Florida.  Her paintings have won numerous awards, been featured in several publications including Chesapeake Baymagazine and been purchased for both private and corporate collections throughout the world.

Kathleen is currently a Signature/Lifetime member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, the National League of American Pen Women (Art), the Rappahannock Art League, and a past member of the National Watercolor Society and the Florida Watercolor Society.  Her paintings have been included in numerous juried art shows and are available in fine art galleries throughout the East Coast and the Florida Keys.  She may be reached through her on-line studio gallery www.kathleennoffsinger.com or at her studio in Hartfield, VA (804) 832-1387.
