About the Event
As painters in Virginia, we are blessed with lots of foliage and thanks to humidity, lots of atmospheric perspective. But it can be challenging to figure out how to mix the right green to achieve what you see in your mind’s eye.
This is a one-day class reviewing specifically the hue of green. Which blue and yellow do you specifically need to reach the green you really want? How do you mix cool greens and warm greens, light greens and dark greens? And find the right way to mix those greens off in the far distance? And how do you do it all without creating mud (except when you want to)?
This class will help in whatever liquid medium you use such as oils, acrylics, gouache, and watercolor. Bring a palette with a large mixing area, a half dozen brushes, a palette knife and your favorite painting surface and paint. Bring yellows, blues, reds, umbers, ochres and whites. Leave the tubed greens at home unless you want to practice mixing to match those commercially prepared greens. Also bring a pencil and a sketchbook that will accept your preferred medium. If working in a water medium, bring a spray bottle.
The instructor will bring additional tools that may help you. Minimum three students, eight max.
