In this workshop, James will share the concepts, ideas, and techniques he uses to create light-filled paintings. I begin each day with a lecture/discussion and samples to visually reinforce what is covered. He then does a demonstration to show how to apply what he has taught. Proceeding, he will work with students as they work and paint on their own.
Day one: Students will do various exercises on design and composition while exploring the essence of capturing light.
Day two: The class will work from our exercises done on day one to create finished paintings. The day’s focus will be on learning how to simplify values and color and build on the previous day’s designs. This workshop will give students a full understanding of painting light and give you all the tools needed to release your unique creative vision.
