Mixology: Flesh tones
Have you always wanted to paint a portrait of your dear old auntie, or a rosy-cheeked grandchild or perhaps capture just the right hue in the face of a waterman or farm worker but you just weren’t sure how to mix your paint to interpret what you see?
This is a one-day class reviewing specifically the many colors that make up the wide and varied nuances of the human face (and body). Which reds, blues, greens, browns and ochres and whites to do you need to capture what you see? Are there magic formulas or just special paints you need to buy?
This class can help you in whatever liquid medium you use such as: oils, acrylics, gouache, and watercolor. Bring a palette with a large mixing area, a half dozen brushes, a palette knife and your favorite painting surface and paint. Bring your yellows, blues, reds, greens, umbers, ochres and whites. Leave your commercially prepared “flesh tone” tubes of paint at home. Also bring a pencil and a sketchbook that will accept your preferred medium. If working in a water medium also bring a spray bottle.
The instructor will bring additional tools that may help you.
