“FLORA and FAUNA” Art Exhibit Winners


The April exhibit at the RAL Art Center, 19 N Main Street, Kilmarnock is “Flora and Fauna.” This 60 piece exhibit features artwork in photography, oils, pastels, acrylics, fiber art, mosaic,

fused art, and oil and cold wax.


Kay Van Dyke, architect, artist and founder of Arts on Main judged the exhibit, and awards were presented April 1 at the First Friday Reception. Van Dyke awarded First Place to “Before the Storm” an acrylic by Brenda Sylvia. She said that the artist captured the oncoming storm feeling, combining it with gorgeous colors and a delightful composition.


Second Place went to “Unexpected Grace” cold wax and oil by Kathleen Noffsinger. Third Place was awarded to “On Patrol” photograph by Bob Sutherland.


Honorable Mentions were awarded to: “Springs Sprung” mosaic glass on glass by Laurie Breakwell, “Loving Life” water media by Joan Willoughby, “Pale Pink Geranium” pastel by Mel Neale, “Soul of Salt Spring Island” acrylic by Bob Casazza, and “Color Riot” acrylic by

Karen Kingsley.


This exhibit will be on display until April 30 at the RAL Art Center. Hours 10 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday through Saturday.
